A limited edition specially commissioned by Peter Harrington, hand-printed from the original mezzotint engraved copper plate, this copy no. 65 of 250. We believe this portrait was created to celebrate Winston Churchill becoming Prime Minister in May 1940. Macbeth-Raeburn used a press archive photograph showing Churchill standing outside number 10 Downing St.
Plate size 650 × 410 mm. (25 ½ × 16 inches), framed size approx. 855 × 595 mm. (33 ¾ x 23 ½ inches). The portrait bears a facsimile signature of Winston S. Churchill and is strictly limited to 250 copies. Traditionally framed in classic English burred walnut. This print has been additionally mounted with a slip of paper signed by Winston S. Churchill.
