A unique proof copy without the facsimile signature from a limited edition print of 250. Specially commissioned by Peter Harrington, hand-printed from the original mezzotint engraved copper plate. We believe this portrait was created to celebrate Winston Churchill becoming Prime Minister in May 1940. Macbeth-Raeburn used a press archive photograph showing Churchill standing outside number 10 Downing St.
Plate size 650 × 410 mmm (16.3 × 25.5 inches), framed size aprox. 875 × 640 mm. Traditionally presented in a classic English burred walnut frame.
