CHURCHILL, Winston S.
Wanted for Incitement to Murder.
One of the most famous propaganda pictures of the Second World War, Churchill with a Thompson sub-machine gun fitted with drum magazine, the very image of Murder Inc. "This gangster, who you see in his element in the picture, incites you by his example to participate in a form of warfare in which women, children and ordinary citizens shall take leading parts." The picture was taken when Churchill was inspecting a coastal defence unit at Hartlepool in July 1940, the leaflets were being dropped over Britain by August. Extremely flimsy, and consequently uncommon.
Octavo (198 × 138 mm) Aerial propaganda leaflet. Somewhat toned, edge-splits, lacking small pieces at the lower corners, but overall very good.
