KIPLING, Rudyard.
The Bombay Edition.
The Bombay Edition, one of only 500 complete sets from a limited edition of 1500 sets signed by the author on the half-title. The Bombay edition was initially published in 20 volumes and limited to 1000 copies. Kipling continued to write and it eventually grew to 31 volumes, but the last 11 volumes were limited to 500 copies only. Because later volumes were issued separately and at a lower limitation, complete sets such as this one are rare, and this example is in a particularly beautiful red morocco binding by the Chelsea Bindery.
31 volumes, octavo. Finely bound by The Chelsea Bindery in full red morocco, titles and centre tools to spines gilt, rule to boards gilt, twin rule to turn-ins gilt, dark blue coated endpapers, top edges gilt. Printed from Florentine Press type on handmade paper with watermark bearing, "RK". A fine set.
