(BLUNDEN, Edmund) CLARE, John.
Poems Chiefly from Manuscript.
First edition thus, first impression. Presentation copy inscribed on the front free endpaper, "For Stephen Tennant from his obliged Bard Edmund Blunden. August 27, 1929". Blunden has also copied out a complete seven-line poem by Clare, describing it as "Clare's last poem". A lovely association.
Octavo. Original blue cloth, printed paper label to spine. Portrait frontispiece. Bookplate, ownership inscription to front free endpaper. Very lightly rubbed at extremities, free endpapers and rear pastedown tanned. An excellent copy.
