First Editions. Woodyatt "A useful source, strongest in its coverage of C19th campaigns... The Appendices are very good, and include details of each officer's career." (Perkins) and Barclay "... the best of the 3GR histories in terms of overall quality. The story-line is the activities of all four Bns in action on the NWF and in overseas campaigns during WWII. It also makes useful reference to 38th Gurkha Rifles. The appendices are extensive, a primary source." A far from common set, covering the greater part of the Regiment's active service from formation.

2 volumes large octavo. Original rifle green cloth with titles gilt to spines and Regimental crest to the upper boards. Portrait frontispiece and 4 other plates, 7 folding maps to Woodyatt, Some light foxing and browning, the cloth slightly rubbed, else a very good set.
