Seventh edition of Shelton's translation. He was the first to translate Don Quixote into English, a feat that he claims to have accomplished in forty days. Despite his haste, the text displays his "verve, command of Spanish, and knowledge of Spain". Part 1 was published in 1612, and the second was printed anonymously in 1620, and both are included in this set. The engravings are by Charles-Antoine Coypel (1694-1752), First Painter to the King of France, who also had them produced as a successful series of tapestries.

4 volumes, octavo (155 × 90 mm). Contemporary calf, rebacked with spine gilt in compartments, red morocco label, double gilt rule, blind roll. 15 folding engravings. 20th-century bookplates. Binding rubbed, corners worn, still a good, firm copy.
