Illustrated with 104 coloured plates by Rowlandson and Pugin and EXTRA ILLUSTRATED with over 200 additional plates, an original Rowlandson water colour and a Pugin letter. The original Rowlandson water colour entitled "Two Musketeers" depicts two musketeers, resting on their guns, conversing with a woman. This edition is founded on the original edition published by Rudolph Ackerman.
3 volumes, octavo. Bound in contemporary half blue morocco, gilt lettered and decorated spines, blue silk boards, gilt rule, silk endpapers, top edges gilt. A little rubbing to extremities but overall in very good condition.
