FALLS, Cyril.
Armageddon 1918.
First Edition, Second Impression, five months after the First. Account of Allenby's Campaign in Palestine and Syria culminating in the Battle of Megiddo, written by the official historian of Egypt and Palestine. Falls "never claimed to be making any major contribution to strategic thought, but he did much to improve the general understanding of the nature and problems of war in an age of rapid technological transition; and his historical works are notable for their solid knowledge, their good sense, and the distinction of their prose" (Michael Howard in ODNB). Falls was war correspondent of The Times through the Second World War and Chichele professor of the history of war, 1946-53.
