BALDWIN, James.
Go Tell It on the Mountain.
First edition, first impression of the author's first novel, a Bildungsroman based on his life as the adopted son of a Harlem preacher and his struggles with identity as a young African-American man.
Octavo. Original brown cloth, titles to spine and upper board gilt. With the dust jacket. Contents lightly toned, tiny mark to spine but an exceptional copy in a nicked and rubbed dust jacket typically faded at the spine and with a chafe at the top of the spine panel causing some minor loss. Actually a pretty decent copy of a vulnerable book.
