First edition, first impression. Belloc Lowndes, feminist, journalist, and sensational author - her most famous work The Lodger, based on the Jack the Ripper murders, has been filmed five times, firstly by Hitchcock in 1927 and most recently by David Ondaatje in 2009 - here offers accounts of nine notorious murder cases, including "an exceptionally full account of the Bravo Case." Uncommon and highly attractive in the jacket.

Octavo. Original red cloth, title gilt to spine and upper board, blind panelling to the upper board, publisher's device in blind to the lower, top edge gilt. With the typographical dust jacket. Frontispiece. Endpapers lightly foxed, mild toning, else very good indeed in jacket with just a few very minor chips.
