Reissue of the 1916 edition of this decidedly uncommon compendium. Volume II of the original issue, published in 1917, was concerned with detailed route and was not reissued with this post-War edition. "The sources from which this work has been compiled include native information obtained for the purpose since the outbreak of the war. This applies in particular to the strength and distribution of the Bedouin tribes and to their political relationships… The first volume of the Handbook contains geographical and political information of a general character…"

Small octavo. Original cloth, title gilt to spine, double gilt rule head and tail of the spine, panel in blind to both boards, neatly rebacked with the original spine laid down. 4 folding coloured maps in end-pocket, 15 plates. Reback a little sunned, just a little rubbed, but overall a very good copy.
