First edition, first impression, wrappered issue. Joachim E. Berendt was an important jazz promoter in Germany following the Second World War. He wrote a number of significant books on jazz and produced numerous radio and television programmes that are credited with popularising the style in Germany. His collaborator, photographer William Claxton, was well-known for his images of jazz musicians. A significant and attractive volume.

Perfect bound. Original black, white, and red wrappers. Illustrations from photos by William Claxton throughout. Lightly rubbed at extremities, very short tear at tail of spine, wrappers and margins of contents faintly toned. An excellent copy.
