ABE, Katsuji.
My People in Jazz.
First edition, only issued in Japan. This copy dated and warmly inscribed, in an elegant block printed script, by the author on the front free endpaper, "Bernard; Nice to meet and have known you, Through our friend in jazz, Ann, Thanks for everything, K. Abe, July 1 '80." Inscribed to Bernard LaMotte (1903-1983), a prominent American-born artist who lived for much of his life in France. It was at his Paris studio, Le Bocal, that his friend Antoine de Saint- Exupery wrote the Le Petit Prince and where LaMotte illustrated Exupery's Flight To Arras. A very nice copy of a scarce and fragile publication, this with excellent provenance.
Folio, original laminated card wraps in heavy card dust jacket. Black and white and colour photographs. Very good, the jacket just a touch rubbed.
