ARMSTRONG, Louis.
Swing that Music.
With an Introduction by Rudy Vallee. Music Section edited by Horace Gerlach with Special Examples of Swing Music contributed by Benny Goodman - Tommy Dorsey - Joe Venuti - Louis Armstrong - Bud Freeman - Red Norvo - Claude Hopkins - Carl Kress - Stanley Dennis - Ray Bauduc.
First edition. Uncommon, particularly so in jacket. The opening section of the book is Armstrong's first essay in autobiography, the second part is specially designed by Armstrong and Gerlach "to be a practical guide for amateur musicians ten foremost Swing performers in America have contributed illustrative scores showing how they "swing" on a given melody with their respective instruments" (from the jacket blurb).
Octavo. Original red ochre cloth, title gilt to spine. In the dust jacket. Portrait frontispiece and 11 other plates, 10 folding score sheets. A very good copy in jacket with pieces missing from the top edge of both panels, but still attractive.
