Ponting's signature blindstamped to lower right. This photograph is enlarged from a negative made by H. G. Ponting during the British Antarctic Expedition, taken on 28 February, 1911. The image shows waves breaking on blocks of ice at West Beach.
Sheet size: 56 x 71.5 Original blue toned carbon print on board. Diagonal creases to head and foot of image repaired, together with repair to lower corners. Presented in a black and gilt period style frame.
