A Cruising Guide to the New England Coast.
First published edition, limited to 1500. Follows a mimeographed typescript produced for subscribers only in a run perhaps as small as 50 copies. "This outstanding cruising guide grew from Robert F. Duncan's July 1934 memo, "Notes on Cruising Down East." It has been continued by his son, Roger and his son-in-law" (Toy). Loosely inserted into this copy are a Vineyard Haven Yacht Club yacht racing chart printed on linen; a four-page set of instructions for the Edgartown Yacht Club regatta of 1928, with chart; and a racing course chart for the Waquoit Yacht Club. A work of reference, this early guide is quite well-represented institutionally, but seldom appears on the market.
Quarto. Original double spiral-bound, blue cloth boards, title in red panel to the upper board. Remains of the dust jacket, pictorial upper panel largely complete. Frontispiece and 25 other plates and charts. Minor shelf-wear, light marginal toning, but a very god copy indeed.
