First edition. Swire was a philologist and journalist who spent 5 years in Albania researching the origins of the Albanian nation. He here gives a history of the half century from the formation of the Albanian League to the establishment of the kingdom of Albania under King Zog. An uncommon book, particularly in jacket.
Octavo, original rust cloth, title gilt to spine, double-headed eagle in blind to the upper board, red top-stain. In the dust jacket. Frontispiece and 7 other plates, 8 maps, plans and diagrams to the text. Slightly later relevant clippings from the Messager d'Athens tipped onto the front free endpaper. Endpapers a little browned, light foxing to the title page, else a very good copy in slightly rubbed, unclipped jacket with minor chipping head and tail of the spine.
