First edition. Account of a trip into Central Asia by the German traveller and philanthropist. From Ashgabat von Schweinitz passed through Masshad to Merv and then on the Oxus to Tashkent, Kokand, Samarkand and Bokhara. Ownership stamp of the botanist Gustav Gassner to the upper panel. Gassner was an expert attached to the Turkish Agriculture Ministry from 1933-9.
Octavo. Original grey typographic card wraps, printed in red and black. Numerous illustrations to the text from the author's photographs, 2 maps, one full-page, one folding, and one folding plan of the centre of Bokhara. Wraps just a very little sunned and with a crease across the lower corner of the upper panel, a very good copy.
