Details

First edition, first impression of this collection of poetry. Arthur Edward Waite was a mystic and historian of occultism and alchemy and is most famous now for his pictorial tarot deck, designed in 1910 with Pamela Coleman Smith; however, he "was never truly an occultist: in all his work he presented himself as a non-denominational mystic" (ODNB). The publisher was the owner of Watkins Books, or, as it was then known, the "University of Rejected Sciences", a meeting place for leading occult figures. Uncommon.
