A Jazz Message: Art Blakey Quartet featuring McCoy Tyner, Sonny Stitt, Art Davies.New York: Impulse!, 1972 Stock Code: 144405
Signed flamboyantly by McCoy Tyner and Art Blakey on inside cover.
Originally recorded in the summer of 1963 and released in February of the following year, The Jazz Message garners an affectionate review from The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings, "A paradox: Blakey-led, but not a Messengers date; taped at Van Gelder's, but not for Blue Note. Loose-limbed, flying, four great musicians having a high old time in the studio, just some blues and three standards; no immortal statement, but Blakey sounds like he's enjoying himself and plays some of his best licks".
12-inch vinyl LP (Impulse! Mono A-45 / Stereo AS-45), new plain paper sleeve, original gatefold album cover; later pressing of disc dated 1972 on label.
Cover showing general signs of light handling, touch of wear to extremities but overall very good and bright; disc in excellent condition.
