From the library of Liberal MP Walter Runciman the Younger
First edition, first impression, of Keynes's second work on the German reparations, arguing for a reduction in payments demanded from Germany. A nice liberal association copy, Walter Runciman the Younger being a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge who "during the 1920s gradually moved to the right in the sense that he accepted the orthodox Treasury view of the economy rather than the Keynesian alternative" (ODNB).Description
Octavo. Original dark blue cloth, spine lettered and double ruled in gilt, double ruling continuing along boards in blind.
Condition
Bookplate of Walter Runciman to front pastedown; likely the 1st Viscount of Doxford (1870-1949) rather than his father of the same name, both Liberal MPs, active during the period of Keynes's eminence; also with 1951 signature to front free endpaper. Extremities rubbed, spine ends and corners bumped, spine lightly faded, front and rear free endpapers tanned, a few spots to rear publisher's advertisements, otherwise a very good copy.
