A Sense of Where You Are.
A Profile of William Warren Bradley.New York, Bantam Books, 1970 Stock Code: 99894
NotesA specially bound copy of the Bantam paperback edition, inscribed by an outraged McPhee on the advertisement page to the bookseller Ralph Sipper: "Ralph - I took the cover off this paperback and had it bound in this way because Bantam slipped a cover picture of Bill in a Knicks uniform onto this late printing without my knowledge. The book is about Bill as a college player, period. The new cover was a shame. Yours for truth in publishing, John." This copy is also signed by McPhee and Bill Bradley on the title page. Bill Bradley was a hall-of-fame basketball player, who later went on to run for the Democratic Party nomination for Presidential Candidate in 2000. In this book, first published in 1965, McPhee profiles Bradley during his senior year at Princeton University. An fascinating book, with a highly entertaining inscription.
Duodecimo (175 x 100 mm). Bound in near-contemporary black boards, titles to spine gilt, white endpapers.
26 black and white photographs.
A fine copy.
