A Survey of Mathematical Logic.Peking, Science Press, 1962 Stock Code: 118207
NotesFirst edition, first printing, presentation copy inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Lucia and Monty, with warm regards from Hao". This is the logician, philosopher, and mathematician's second book, which comprises a collection of introductory papers on a variety of topics, including the axiomatic method, computation, Turing's theory of calculating machines, Boolean algebra, and predicative set theory. Strongly influenced by Kurt Gödel, Bertrand Russell, W. V. O. Quine, and Ludwig Wittgenstein, Hao held academic positions at the universities of Harvard, Oxford, Princeton, Qinghua, and Zurich.
Quarto. Original blue cloth, spine and front board lettered and ruled in red, front board framed in blind. With the dust jacket.
Spine ends lightly faded, spine cloth cockled, corners bumped, pastedowns a little cockled, some tears to dust jacket extremities, loss to spine ends, two punctures to lower front panel, spine and edges browned and panels a little marked, still a very good copy.
