Notes

First edition in book-form, second issue, without the signature "b" on the list of plates and with page 213 correctly numbered. Dickens's great historical romance, set during the French Revolution, remains one of his best known and most widely read works. The novel was originally serialized in the weekly journal All the Year Round, from 30 April to 26 November 1859, and was also published in eight monthly parts between June and December 1859. It was first published in book form on 21 November 1859.
