First Albany edition, the second American edition, following that of Philadelphia (1802); this Albany printing adds an 8-page letter addressed to the publishers by a Peter W. Yates in which he discusses his own practical experiences in cultivating fruit trees. "Cobbett added an introduction and notes, intended for the American reader, to the Philadelphia edition of this popular Treatise by William Forsyth (1737-1804), a superintendant of the Royal Gardens. It was Cobbett's first effort to provide advice for agriculturalists, a labour he frequently undertook in later years" (Pearl). An appealingly unsophisticated copy.
