Octavo (187 x 124 mm). Bound by Spottiswoode in tree calf, raised bands, dark red and brown morocco labels, compartments richly gilt, floral rolls to boards gilt, marbled edges and andpapers.

Monochrome frontispiece, 23 similar plates, many from photographs, and numerous diagrams to text.

Contemporary ownership inscription to front flyleaf. Light foxing throughout. An excellent copy.
