Late 1930s issues of the Alice books, in a handsome contemporary binding by Bayntun-Rivière bound in a single volume.
Octavo (180 x 114 mm). Finely bound by Bayntun-Riviere in dark red crushed morocco, titles and elaborate decoration to spine gilt, raised bands, multi-coloured pictorial onlay of Alice with the Dodo to the front board and multi-coloured pictorial onlay of Alice with the Queen of Hearts to the back board, both onlays framed within gilt fillets and corner-pieces, inner dentelles gilt, marbled endpapers, gilt edges.
With the original Tenniel illustrations.
Some expert restoration to the joints, book block slightly bowed, some gilt loss to fore-edge. A very good copy.
