Foreword by Lord Snowdon.
London: Quartet Books Limited, 1982 Stock Code: 123695
First edition, first impression. Presentation copy, inscribed by the artist on the front free endpaper to Australian photographer Paul Freeman, "To Paul Freeman. Remembering an unforgettable occasion. Regards, Angus McBean". This copy together with an autograph letter loosely inserted, on McBean's personal headed paper. The letter, from McBean to Freeman, is dated 6 March 1983 and discusses McBean's recent flurry of popularity; "during the 1980s there were major exhibitions of his work, television documentaries, and numerous photographic commissions. No longer a half-forgotten name from the unfashionable past, Angus McBean, much to his delight, was once more in demand" (ODNB). This work is McBean's first retrospective, with 120 photographs from throughout his career, selected himself.
