Antheil and the Treatise of Harmony with Supplementary Notes.Chicago: Pascal Covici, Publisher, Inc., 1927 Stock Code: 106135
NotesFirst US edition, first printing. Presentation copy to George Antheil, the subject of the book, inscribed by the author, "Mr Atheling to Mr Antheil, Oct. 1927, duly certified by E.P. 'for annihilating lucidity'." William Atheling was the pen name Pound had used from 1917 when writing music reviews for The New Age. The phrase "annihilating lucidity"was used in Covici's press release for the book. Although George Antheil styled himself the bad boy of American music and played avant-garde concerts with a revolver laid on the piano, he grew alarmed by Pound's enthusiasm and later distanced himself from this book. This edition is an expanded version of the limited edition of 40 copies only published at the Three Mountains Press in Paris in 1924.
Octavo. Original reddish-brown cloth, spine and front cover with lettering reversed out of black panels.
