NotesFirst edition of the lectures William Morris gave before the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings on July 1884 and July 1893, printed using the Golden Type of the Kelmscott Press. With the black morocco bookplate of the prominent American book collector Henry William Poor (1844-1915), who made his fortune in banking and used the funds to accumulate an exceptional collection of fine bindings, illuminated manuscripts, first editions, and private press books. His business failed, and his library was auctioned in 1908.

Ownership signature to front free endpaper. Advertisement for other Chiswick Press printings of lectures by William Morris loosely inserted. Spine a little sunned and label a little chipped, light stain to top tip of front cover, some pages unopened. A very good copy.
