Autograph letter signed to Alexander Blackwood.Putney, 11 January 1845 Stock Code: 129803
NotesAutograph letter signed to Alexander Blackwood (attributed so by Bennett), in which Mary solicits, albeit unsuccessfully, for the publication of "a tale that has been confided to me from India". The author of the tale was a Bengal artillery lieutenant, Captain Sir James Abbott, who had already had his Narrative of a Journey from Heraut to Khiva, Moscow, and St Petersburg published by W. H. Allen in 1843. Mary describes the tale as "a romantic tale of India by an Old Indian" and its author as "a personal friend to Sir John McNeil, late Ambassador to Persia".
Single bifolium (leaf size 177 x 113 mm), hand written across four pages.
Creased from folding as usual with a few ink spots, else very good.
