Autograph letter signed to Sir John William Anderson (c. 1736-1813), MP for London 1793-1806, discussing the expense of supporting convicts, prompted by the debate resulting from the third reading of the Convicts Transportation Bill in parliament the day before. The letter was sent accompanied by a copy of the first of Bentham's "Letters to Lord Pelham".
Single quarto leaf (202 x 160 mm), folded once horizontally, hand written in ink across two and a half pages, docketed on the fourth and final page. Housed in a dark blue cloth chemise.
Letter tipped onto sheet of cream card, creased from folding with some light browning to edges, in very good condition.
