Notes

A letter written by John Stuart Mill to William Carr Sidgwick, elder brother of the philosopher Henry Sidgwick who, together with Mill would be a founding member of The Radical Club, established in 1870, in which Mill announces the forthcoming publication of his new edition of his father's work, The Analysis of the Phenomena of the Human Mind, originally published in 1829. This new edition, with notes illustrative and critical by Alexander Bain, Andrew Findlater and George Grote, edited and with additional notes by John Stuart Mill, was published in two volumes in 1869.

3 pages, octavo (156 x 99 mm), autograph written in black ink on paper with Mill's embossed initials and the address of Blackheath Park Kent, folded for mailing.

Condition

Light evidence of glue to the gutter, presumably where once tipped into an album; in very fine condition.
