NotesHandsomely produced by the rising print and graphics firm of Georges Lang for the renowned Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette, this is a superbly preserved example of an essentially ephemeral 1920s mainstream fashion catalogue.
The catalogue is replete with stylish illustrations, mostly full-page, of the women's modes of the day, including coats, dresses, lingerie, accessories, some signed by Paul Valentin, together with a smattering children's and men's clothing, homeware, haberdashery, and notions. From humble beginnings in a small haberdashers on rue Lafayette, cousins Théophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn built an international empire with a its flagship shop in a palatial purpose-built art nouveau building on the Boulevard Haussmann, where weekly fashion shows are still held to this day.
Folio (265 x 210 mm). Colour printed wraps, 16 pages, printed in sanguine and dark green.
Profusely illustrated throughout.
Small dark splash to the back panel of the wraps, pale toning, else very good.
