Bilder fran Gamla Stockholm valda och beskrifna.Stockholm: P. B. Eklunds, 1889 Stock Code: 146316
First edition, first series (all published), of this interesting and attractive collection of scenes and views of "Old Stockholm", reproducing prints from the late 17th to mid-19th centuries, gathered by the writer, collector and librarian, Christopher Eichhorn (1837-1889), and including work by Johan Fredrik Martin, Hjalmar Mörner, and Ferdinand Tollin; uncommon, an online search of institutional libraries showing 2 copies only (BL and BnF).
Landscape quarto. Original mustard-coloured morocco-grain cloth, gilt-lettered spine and front cover, the latter with a blind border enclosing a black ornamental panel (the same in blind on back cover).
40 plates from old prints (8 in colour, the remainder tinted or plain), each with accompanying leaf of letterpress.
Binding just slightly rubbed, a little wear to lower corners, first two plates marked up lightly in pencil (perhaps with the intention of reproduction), scattered foxing. A very good copy, clean, bright, and square.
