We receive very large numbers of offers and enquiries of Harry Potter books, and in order to cut down our response times, we have outlined below which of the Harry Potter titles we are presently looking for, and how to identify first edition first impression copies.

Please read this guide before completing the Sell to Us form or sending us details of your Harry Potter books.

We are interested in first edition first impression copies only of both the trade (regular hardback) and deluxe editions. However, if you have a later impression that is signed by JK Rowling we might still be interested, so please do send details.

See below for the titles we are seeking to buy of each edition at the moment,

Trade (regular) editions of Harry Potter Books

At present we are looking for first edition first impression copies of the first three novels only:

Philosopher’s Stone

Chamber of Secrets

Prisoner of Azkaban

We are interested in both the hardback and paperback issues of Philosopher’s Stone, but hardback copies only of Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban.

Please ensure that the printing line on the copyright page reads 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1.

 

The books must also have been published by Bloomsbury, not The Book People or Ted Smart, and they must be printed in Great Britain, not Canada or Australia.

Deluxe editions of Harry Potter Books

We are currently looking to buy first Deluxe edition, first impression copies only of the following titles:

Philosopher’s Stone
Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone Deluxe Edition Book
Chamber’s of Secrets
Harry Potter and the Chamber od Secrets Deluxe Edition Book
Prisoner of Azkaban
Half-Blood Prince
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Deluxe Edition Book
Deathly Hallow’s
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Deluxe Edition Book
You do not need to break the shrink wrap seal to check the edition status of the remaining four novels in the series (Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows). Check the price sticker on the back of the book. If it states ‘First edition’, you have a first impression copy, as seen below:
The deluxe edition was published in a sealed shrink wrap. For the first three titles, Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban, it is not possible to check the edition without looking at the copyright page; it must have a printing line that reads 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1.
If your book has already been opened and does not have the shrink wrap present, the words ‘First Edition’ will be stated on the copyright page if your book is a first impression.
If your Harry Potter book is not a first impression copy, we regretfully will not be interested in buying it at this time (with the possible exception of copies signed by JK Rowling), and unfortunately are unable to provide valuation advice for later impression copies.
