NotesFirst edition, first issue (dated 1935 on title page), one of 1,100 copies. Bodas de sangre ("Blood Wedding"), a tragedy, was Lorca's first major success, enabling him to become financially independent for the first time when it was staged in Madrid in 1933. This was published shortly before Lorca's assassination at the hands of the Francoists.
Octavo (218 x 160 mm). Contemporary red three-quarter morocco preserving the original wrappers (dated 1936), titles in gilt direct to spine, red and gilt paper boards ruled in blind, red and gilt speckled endpapers, top edge gilt, others untrimmed.
Front wrapper and title page printed in red and black.
Spine ends a trifle rubbed, the binding otherwise sharp and unfaded, internally crisp; a fine copy.
