Notes

First edition, first impression. Notable for the presence of W. T. Layton, Lloyd George, Philip Kerr, J. M. Keynes and Ramsay Muir on the executive committee of the Liberal Industrial Inquiry, and the body responsible for this volume. For those attending the Liberal Summer School (founded in 1921) "there was need for fresh investigation of the economic and social problems by which the nation is now faced, and for the formulation of a policy to deal with them, starting from the Liberal standpoint and aiming at the application of Liberal ideas." (Preface).
Provenance: From the library of John Burns, English trade unionist and politician. As a book collector, he created a very large private library, much of which he left to University of London Library.
