British Public Opinion.
A guide to the history and methodology of political opinion polling.Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1991 Stock Code: 138180
NotesFirst edition, presentation copy to former prime minister Harold Wilson, inscribed by the author on the half-title: "To Harold - with great respect and affection, to the best client I ever had. Bob Worcester March 1991". Robert Worcester (born 1933) is the founder of MORI, and a pioneer in political polling. He conducted polling for Wilson, as referenced in the inscription. The front cover illustrates Harold Wilson shooting above Ted Heath in the polls. The passages for Harold Wilson in the index are circled in red pen, although it is unknown whether that was by the presenter or by Wilson. The book remained in the possession of Wilson and his wife Mary until the dispersal of their estate following Mary's death in 2018.
