Captain Slaughterboard Drops Anchor.London: Eyre & Spottiswoode, 1945 Stock Code: 135814
NotesFirst post-war edition, second overall. The original edition, published by Country Life in 1939, is notably rare; as explained on the jacket blurb of the present edition "the original edition of this book was published early in the war but destroyed by enemy action. The artist has coloured the plates for this edition presumably a reference to the spot colour". Captain Slaughterboard was Peake's first book.
Square octavo. Publisher's beige cloth, titles in green to front board. With the pictorial dust jacket.
Illustrated throughout in black and white (with spot-colour highlights), printed on blue, pink, yellow, white, and grey paper.
Corners gently bumped. A near-fine copy in the near-fine dust jacket, small scuff to spine, short tear to top edge of rear panel, light soiling.
