Second Aldine edition of the poems of Catullus with the commentaries of the French humanist Marc-Antoine Muret (1526-1585). As the title page indicates, the second edition added the works of Tibullus and Propertius, though in this copy they are not bound in.
A complete copy collates A-S8 T4 a-g8 h2, 2A-L8 2M8: this copy lacks all after sig. T4. The added works each have a separate title page and were perhaps bound separately.
Description
Small octavo (152 x 100 mm), ff. 148. Contemporary limp vellum sewn on five tawed leather cords, spine lettered by hand.
Illustrations
Aldine device on title; 3pp. errata at end. Lacking the works of Tibullus and Propertius.
Condition
Vellum soiled, title page a little dusty, a few trivial marks, generally very good.
