Collected Poems.Faber and Faber Ltd, London , 1951 Stock Code: 136674
NotesFirst edition, first impression, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "Yes: T. Barrett's copy of these Collected Poems - Collected not corrected. Marianne Moore, April 10 1958", under a previous gift inscription reading "For Leni and Tom Barrett. With affection, Christmas 1952. Bill Kienbush".
The recipients were painters and art teachers and curators Thomas Barrett and his wife, Leni Mancuso Barrett, both from New Hampshire. The book was gifted to them by fellow painter and friend William Kienbusch who "went on painting trips with Leni Mancuso and Tom Barrett from Castine (their correspondence with him is in the Archives of American Art)" (Little).
Loosely inserted is a postcard advertising a reading by Moore at Dartmouth on the date her inscription was penned.
A lovely copy of Moore's Pulitzer Prize winning poetry, with interesting association.
Octavo. Original orange cloth, titles in gilt to spine. With the dust jacket.
Slightly cocked, spine ends and front top tip gently bumped. A near-fine copy in the very good dust jacket, light sunning to spine and top of front panel, wear to corners, mostly to foot of spine.
