Very well-preservedFirst edition, first printing, of Hesse's utopian futuristic novel, his final and longest work, and a major contributor to Hesse being awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1946. It was first published in English in 1949 under the title The Glass Bead Game.
2 volumes, octavo. Original blue cloth, spines lettered in gilt on black ground. With the dust jackets.
A little sunning to cloth, contents fresh and unmarked, a near-fine set in the fragile jackets, spines darkened, very well-preserved.
