Notes

First edition, first printing. A fine presentation copy, inscribed by the photographer on the front free endpaper, "To Paula Wyss sincerely A. Kertesz Jan. 11. 1946". Day of Paris is one the 20th century's abiding testimonies to the recording power of the lens in the hands of a genius like Kertesz. Its pages reflect over and over again something archetypal in the most quotidian of images. Photojournalism at its finest. A scarce enough book in dust jacket in any case and copies bearing contemporary presentation inscriptions are rare.
