Degenerate Oxford?London: Chapman & Hall, 1930 Stock Code: 126361
First edition, first impression. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "For my dearest Culley, with lots of love from that literary extra, Terence Lucy Greenidge May 6 / 30". Degenerate Oxford, an account of Oxford student life, was written by Evelyn Waugh's university friend Terence Greenidge, who had introduced Waugh to the riotous Hypocrites Club. Waugh would fondly recall the pair's mutual tormenting of the college dean. A variant black binding is also noted, without known priority.
Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, blind-stamped centrepiece to front cover.
Spine a little faded and chipped at head, else a very good copy.
