Notes

First edition, first impression. The biography of the larger-then-life figure James "Diamond Jim" Brady, American tycoon, philanthropist, and toast of the New York social scene during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. A collector of jewellery and precious stones, he owned 30 sets of diamond jewellery-one for each day of the month. He was also known for his enormous appetite, being described by one restauranteur as "the best 25 customers I ever had". A very attractive copy, and uncommon with both the dust jacket and the faux diamond remaining in the cover.
