Dictionnaire de L'Economie Politique.Paris, Libraire de Guillaumin et Cie., 1852 Stock Code: 140426
NotesFirst edition. The writing of this dictionary was begun with the intent to "systematize the ultimate truths that emerged from the 'ocean of contradictory doctrines'" (Besomi, p. 210), although the vast majority of contributors to the dictionary were part of the French liberal school. This title offered access to economic knowledge to those unable to commit to the study of lengthy economic treatises.
2 volumes, octavo (241 x 151 mm). Contemporary purple quarter calf, marbled boards, titles to spine in gilt with raised gilt bands and compartments in blind, marbled endpapers.
With 8 plates with tissue-guards.
Occasional rubbing to spines, tips worn and bumped, some foxing to plates and tissue-guards. A very good copy.
