Die Puppe.
Die Spiele Der Puppe and Die Anatomie Des Bildes.
Berlin: Gehrdt Verlag, 1962 Stock Code: 100887
First edition, first printing, one of 2000 copies. A terrific look at Bellmer's work as a surrealist photographer. Bellmer is more widely known for his life-sized pubescent female dolls he produced in the mid-1930s. Bellmer's first book, The Doll (Die Puppe) printed anonymously in 1934 featured photographs of his first doll arranged in a series of living pictures. Bellmer's work was declared "degenerate" by the Nazi Party, forcing him to flee to France, where is work became admired and gathered attention from the likes of André Breton's inner circle.
