First edition, first impression. Signed by the author on the front free endpaper. This is Strong's first collection of short stories, the writing form which "showed him in turn as a master of comedy and sentiment, of the macabre, the fearful, and the ironic" (ODNB). An uncommon book signed, especially in the jacket, with only one copy traced at auction.

Condition

Spine lightly faded, slight rubbing to extremities, light foxing to prelims, an excellent copy in the jacket with nicks to extremities, panels lightly soiled.
